It's a nice day for a... white wedding...

Well, I had the option of going back into uni today, but because i had a meeting with an accountant at 10am (which blew my mind!) and then the wedding of two friends, Jaime Alexander and Lora Morgan at 12noon, I decided it would be best to wait and be refreshed and ready to go tomorrow.

It was a lovely service, held at Mount Pleasant (on the Kingsway, Swansea)- we sang some great hymns, the message Steve Levy gave was clear and accessible. It was also wonderful to see so many old friends together in one place!

Jaime and Lora: I pray you would know the Lord's blessing throughout your lives in your future together.

Two weeks off!

Well, as of today, I have 2 weeks off from university! Woo! :o)

Unfortunately, this doesn't quite mean the rest I would like it to, but never mind, hopefully a change will do me just as good.

This week, although out of the lab, i'll be devoting time to my up-and-coming company projects. Hopefully I'll be able to break the back of them, so that the remainder of my development time (before the end of September) can be spent optimising, testing and documenting! My company, Bay View Systems (Ltd) will have multiple streams of income when it formally kicks off on October 2nd. Initially, these will be for contracting work (development and system support) - of which i have a few contracts lined up already - but hopefully, as the company grows and its reputation is established, the income from ongoing product services will overtake that from contracting work. (That's the long term plan, but its a good way off at the moment!)

The second week I have off will be spent in Aberystwyth, Mid-Wales, at the Evangelical Movement of Wales (EMW) conference there. I've not been properly for several years now, but am looking forward to it. I'll be staying with friends there, the meetings look good, but i may just end up sleeping off the last 6 months or so of stress! This will be my last "actual holiday" until december when I'm out in Mseleni, South Africa for Jocelyn's wedding (approx. nine days).

On a side note, I was at the Wales Eisteddfod festival-thing yesterday (see photo of the main tent, above) to help with the Swansea uni stand. things were going great until we arrived and found that our huge touch-screen display's touch-screen capabilities didn't work! (Oh, and the machine plugged into it had been password-protected by the owner!) D'oh! Anyway, we managed to find a video to play on it, but it meant we have to show off the new calculator software using tablet PCs and a touch-screen MAC.

The day was good; there was a nice, friendly relaxed atmostphere, although I didn't understand much (almost everything is in welsh), and there was also some weird stuff going on with people in gowns with crowns and thrones and sceptres etc.. hmm..
